Staying away from the carbs is a hard task. When you just can’t, I think you will enjoy this whole-grain twist made on a typical biscuit recipe. Anytime I can substitute ingredients packed with more nutrition or less processing, I will definitely give it a go! As a bonus, I can feel far less guilty about those carbs.

Whole Grain Biscuits

Simply delicious biscuits made with whole grain flour.

Preheat an oven to 500 °F

Whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.

Add large 8 tablespoons of butter to the flour mixture. Using a pastry cutter, mash the ingredients together.
A fork may be used in place of a pastry cutter -
Once the butter is chopped up and mixed in with the flour mixture , slowly mix in the buttermilk.

After the dough has been mixed, form into a ball onto a lightly floured surface. Kneed and fold the dough 4-5 times.

With a rolling pin, roll the dough to a roughly 1 inch thickness.

Using a 3 ¼ biscuit cutter, cut out the biscuits.
In place of a biscuit cutter, an item such as a cookie cutter or drinking glass may be used. If the dough sticks to the cutter, try lightly applying flour, butter, or olive oil. -
Place the biscuits on the silicone baking mat and bake at 500 °F for 10-12 minutes.
Ensure the oven has fully preheated before starting the baking process. -
Immediately after pulling the biscuits from the oven, lightly brush the top of each biscuits with the melted butter.

With the pinch of kosher salt, lightly sprinkle the top of each biscuit.
