Peanut Butter Pretzel Krispie Treats
Peanut butter mixed with salty pretzels, crunchy Rice Krispies cereal, chocolate chips and marshmallows melted into thick gooey krispie treats. To top it off, chocolate drizzle. Yummmm! These rice krispie treats are a quick and easy to make. Perfect sweet & salty treat for any event!
I created this sweet treat with my sister. We were craving rice krispie treats, but we were also craving chocolate. I also had a bag of pretzels on handed that needed to be used. So we got creative. This took more than one try to get right, but once we finally got it we couldn’t stop eating them. Peanut Butter Pretzel Krispie Treats with Chocolate Drizzle
- 8 cup Rice Krispies Cereal
- 8 tbsp Butter (not salted)
- 2 cup Pretzels (Broken up, not crushed. I used pretzels sticks.)
- 2 oz 10 Ounces Bags of Mini Marshmallows (2 Bags, 10 ounces each.)
- 1 3/4 cup Peanut Butter
- 2 tsp Vanilla Extract
- 1/4 cup Honey
- 1 1/2 tsp Vanilla Extract
- 1 1/4 cup Chocolate Chips
- 1/2 cup Chocolate Chips (I used Semi Sweet, but whatever your preference is.)
- 1/2 cup Chocolate Chips
- 2-3 tbsp Heavy Cream
- Take the broken up pretzels and rice krispies cereal, throw into a large mixing bowl. Stir. Set aside.
- In a large saucepan, on medium high heat, melt the butter. Once melted, add the vanilla. Stir.
- Add marshmallows to the melted butter. Continue to stir until melted. Add peanut butter and honey. Stir until completely melted and smooth. May take a couple of minutes.
- Pour the marshmallow mixture over the pretzel/rice cereal mixture. Using a spatula, stir well until everything is covered. Once everything is covered, add the chocolate chips a little at a time, stir in.
- Pour the mixture in a 9x13 pan. Spread evenly. Makes 12 large thick squares or you can cut them smaller, whatever your preference is.
- Next make the chocolate drizzle. In a microwave safe bowl, combine the chocolate chips and 2 tbsp of heavy cream. Mix. Microwave for 20 seconds. Stir. If not melted, microwave another 15 seconds. If not melting, add another tbsp. of heavy cream. Continue until it is fully melted and smooth. Drizzle with a spoon over the krispie treats. Let cool for 15-20 minutes. Simply enjoy!
