Homemade bread is the best! Not only does it smell amazing while it is cooking, but it also tastes even better than store bought bread. Crunchy on the outside, warm and fluffy on the inside. Best part….NO KNEADING! This bread is so easy to make, you will want to make it all the time! Highly recommend serving with soups, salads, dinner/events, or even use it to make sandwiches. As always, I love to hear your thoughts and I hope you enjoy!

Instructions

  1. Using a large mixing bowl, whisk the flour, yeast, and salt. Slowly stir in the warm water, using a wooden spoon. Mix gently and form into a ball. Cover with a towel and let sit for 2-3 hours to rise. (Or use active yeast, make the night before, and let the dough sit overnight for 12 hours.)
  2. When the dough has risen, place your Dutch oven in the oven. Preheat at 450.
  3. Transfer the dough to a floured surface. Fold the dough into a smooth round ball. Place on a piece of lightly floured parchment paper. Let sit for 10-15 minutes.
  4. Use a knife to score an “X” on the top of the dough, make sure it is a little deep.
  5. Next lightly spray the top of the bread with water, use a spray bottle. Place the parchment paper with the bread on top, in the Dutch oven. Cover and bake for 35 minutes. Remove the lid and let cook for another 6-10 minutes.
  6. Remove from oven and let cool for at least 15 minutes before cutting/serving. Let completely cool on the counter for several hours. Simply enjoy! (Note-Do not place in a covered space/Ziploc bag until a few hours have passed, or else the bread will no longer crispy.)
