Bang Bang Shrimp Tacos

Bang Bang Shrimp Tacos

Where are my shrimp taco lovers at!? Shrimp tacos are one of my favorite meals. This one specifically. Crispy seasoned shrimp, tossed lightly in a creamy subtle spicy sauce, topped with crunchy cabbage all wrapped up in a small tortilla. Delicious! Feel free to add extra bang bang sauce to your taco or dip it in ranch, because you can’t go wrong either way! Typically, a bang bang sauce is mayo based, but mine is Greek yogurt based! So even though it’s fried shrimp, the sauce is healthy-ish. As always, I love to hear your thoughts!

Bang Bang Shrimp Tacos
    Shrimp Tacos
  • 12 oz Deveined/Peeled Large Shrimp (Remove tails before cooking. If frozen, defrost beforehand.)
  • 1 Egg
  • 1/4 cup Buttermilk (No Buttermilk? Use Heavy Cream or Whole Milk.)
  • 1/3 cup Cornstarch
  • 1/3 cup All Purpose Flour
  • 1 tsp Smoked Paprika
  • 1 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 tsp Black Pepper
  • 4-6 Flour Tortilla's
  • 2 cup Shredded Cabbage
  • Canola Oil
  • Bang Bang Sauce
  • 1 cup Plain Greek Yogurt
  • 1/4 cup Buffalo Sauce (Extra if you want it extra spicy but try before adding more.)
  • 1/4 cup Sweet Chili Sauce
Instructions
  1. Wash and shred (or chop) the cabbage, set aside.
  2. Make the bang bang sauce – stir the chili sauce, buffalo sauce, and yogurt together well. Set aside.
  3. Mix the flour, corn starch, paprika, salt, pepper, and garlic powder in a medium sized bowl. Stir well.
  4. In a separate small bowl, whisk together the egg and milk.
  5. Heat oil (about ½ inch thick) in a large skillet on the medium – high heat.
  6. Stir the shrimp (make sure the tails are removed) in the egg mixture, I would do 5-7 at a time. Once the shrimp are coated, shake off access egg mixture and dip in the flour mixture. Make sure the shrimp are evenly coated.
  7. Place the shrimp in the skillet in the hot oil. Cook for 2-3 minutes on each side. Shrimp should be golden crispy on the outside. Transfer to a paper towel lined plate to catch the access oil.
  8. Assemble your tacos. Place a little cabbage first, add as many shrimp as you want (I used 4 per taco) and drizzle as much sauce as you want on top. Add extra cabbage if you prefer or serve with a side of ranch. Simply enjoy!
